Q. Where can I take the Primary FRCA examination?

Q. How do I register and pay for the Primary FRCA examination?
A. Application forms are available from the Royal College of Anaesthetists website. All applications must be sent by post and must be accompanied, where required, by the appropriate supporting documents and the relevant examination fee. Fees should be sent by cheque or postal order and made payable to: 'The Royal College of Anaesthetists'.
Supporting documents should be photocopies (not originals) which should be signed as true to the original by the consultant that signs the application form.
Q. Can I take the Primary FRCA examination in any order?
A. No, candidates must successfully pass the Primary FRCA MCQ examination before undertaking the Primary FRCA OSE and Primary FRCA SOE examinations.
Q. What are the fees for the Primary FRCA examination?
A. The Primary FRCA examination fees from August 2008 until July 2009 are:
- Primary FRCA MCQ - £275
- Primary FRCA OSCE - £490
- Primary FRCA SOE - £490
Q. What if I cannot undertake the Primary FRCA examination after I have made payment?
A. Candidates who withdraw before the closing date will receive a fully refund minus a £35 administrative fee. Candidates who withdraw after the closing date will not receive a refund except in exceptional circumstances.
Q. How will I receive my results?
A. All Primary FRCA MCQ results will be published on the Royal College of Anaesthetists website. Candidates will be informed of whether they has passed or failed their Primary OSCE and Primary SOE on the day of examination. A written letter with the results for both exams will also be posted to all candidates.
